Job Status: Full Time -Exempt

Hours: Mon – Fri 10:00 am – 6 pm OR Mon – Fri 11:00 am – 7:00 pm OR Mon – Thurs. 9:00 am – 7:00 pm

Position Summary:

The Child and Family Therapist is a direct service position, which works alongside other staff such as Case Managers and Client Advocates. The position provides physical and emotional stability in a healing-oriented atmosphere for survivors of domestic violence and their families, whom are temporarily residing in the emergency shelter. Therapists counsel individuals or groups regarding domestic violence and trauma, and may help individuals deal with issues associated with addiction, family, parenting, stress management, self-esteem and aging. This position prioritizes relationship over efficiency, and demonstrates flexibility in meeting the needs of each client. Therapists develop and implement therapeutic treatment plans, and work with clients to promote optimum mental and emotional health. This position takes the lead in scheduling assessments, updating treatments plans and helps maintain the partnership with the BRAINS Clinic. Therapists support and help implement the trauma informed care principles along with the agency core values of empowerment, safety, integrity, excellence, innovation and compassion.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Participate collaboratively in providing services to clients; work to solve unique situations with integrity, by maintaining accountability, honesty, and reliability even under pressure

as a member of the Clinical Team in providing services

· Provide individual and group counseling for residents residing in the shelter; empower client involvement in healing by building upon strengths and resources

· Participate in client engagement by cultivating professional relationships based on trust and dependability, offer emotional support and empathetic listening

· Develop person-centered individual treatment plans and update treatment goals as indicated

· Complete comprehensive assessments; follow up scheduling clients

· Participate as a member of the staffing team; recognize each situation as unique, challenging stereotypes and biases, while understanding and responding directly to trauma responses

· Read and update staff log at the beginning and end of each shift; communication between positions is essential in providing best services for clients

· Review client files consistently; assess for immediate and on-going physical and emotional client needs

· Document all pertinent client information in individual client files; maintain files in compliance with local, state and federal requirements

· Follow up on client issues according to Chrysalis program guidelines; prioritize job responsibilities to ensure that appropriate action is taken in critical situations; maintain all ethical and professional guidelines as set forth by Chrysalis’ Policies and Procedures, licensure, and the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners

· Coordinate services with other community agencies, including facilitating appointments with BRAINS Clinic

· Provide phone support to callers; this includes helping with crisis calls

· Utilize trauma-informed decision making tool and trauma-informed model of communication

· Respect and appreciation to all volunteers, donors, and other community members and organizations

· Attend monthly staff meetings

· Participate in maintaining the work environment and resident living quarters

· Adhere to policies regarding shift coverage when taking time off

· Attend on-going training as set forth in Chrysalis Policies and Procedures (12 hours of CEU’s per year following the first year of employment)

· Maintain current CPR, First Aid, and TB testing Certification

· Perform additional tasks as requested

Knowledge, Ability, Experience Requirements:

· Masters Degree in Counseling or related field

· Ability to begin pursuit of licensure within 90 days of hire (LMFT, LPC, LCSW) with the State of Arizona BBHE

· Experience and knowledge of domestic abuse

· Experience and knowledge of substance dependency

· Ability to provide client assessment and crisis intervention

· Experience with individual and group counseling for adults and children a must

· Shelter work experience preferred

· Ability to maintain working relationships with supervisor, co-workers, clients and community agencies

· Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing

· Ability to utilize effective organizational skills

· Spanish bilingual preferred

· Minimum 21 years of age

Other Requirements:

She/he/they must provide own transportation and automobile insurance and have the ability to travel throughout the community; Must be able to pass a fingerprint and background clearance as required by Chrysalis and ADHS licensure requirements; must be able to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination as required by Chrysalis policies; must maintain current TB Testing, CPR and first aid training as required by Chrysalis policies; May be required to move equipment weighing up to 25 lbs and to ascend/descend stairs.
