Optical Dispenser – Punta Gorda – Quigley Health Services – Punta Gorda, FL

Quigley Eye Specialists (QES) Optical Dispenser supports the Licensed Optician with designing, measure, fit, and adapt lenses and frames for client according to written optical prescription or specification. Assist client with selecting frames. Measure customer for size of eyeglasses and coordinate frames with facial and eye measurements and optical prescription. Prepare work order for optical laboratory containing instructions for grinding and mounting lenses in frames. Verify exactness of finished lens spectacles. Adjust frame and lens position to fit client. May shape or reshape frames. Optical Dispenser will be responsible for adhering to support the store’s budgets, cost of goods sold (COGS), sales per hour (SPH) as well as meeting and beating revenue goals. Optician Sales support the Licensed Optician for driving the overall profits of the store.

The Optical Dispenser are required to meet and exceed store sales goals. The Optical Dispenser is expected to meet and exceed productivity numbers while maintaining an excellent customer service.

The Optical Dispenser lead by example on the sales floor and identifying and resolving any customer dissatisfaction as well as providing technical and sales training to the staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Taking eye and facial measurements to correctly interpret prescriptions.
  • Guiding patients when selecting frames for proper fit and styling.
  • Inserting, removing and caring for contact lenses.
  • Advising patients on any necessary repairs or adjustments.
  • Maintaining displays.
  • Basic bookkeeping duties associated with tracking patient’s orders and recording purchases and other necessary information for each patient.
  • Preparing work order for optical laboratory.
  • Working with sales professionals from vision care suppliers.
  • Ensuring that all orders arrive and are to the specifications of the patient.
  • Train and develop other Optical Dispensers while utilizing Quigley Eye Specialists sales process enforcing compliance with Company standards and execution of Quigley Eye Specialists training programs.
  • Serve as a leader on the sales floor.
  • Follow up with customers, resolver customer’s issues and increase customer satisfaction.
  • Model customer service and promote sales whenever interacting with customers and associates.
  • Key holder responsible for open/closing of the store.
  • Ensure adherence to all Company policies and procedures to associates.
  • Assume responsibility for other duties developed
  • Agree to have his/her image appear on any marketing material and/or social media.
  • Adheres to quality control standards including OSHA and other safety requirements.

While the following tasks are necessary for the work on the unit, they are not and essential part of the purpose of this position and may also be performed by other unit members.

  • Answering phones according to company guidelines
  • Make minor repairs to eyewear and/or adjustments

Skills/Qualifications:

Demonstrated sales track record, organizational skills, multi-tasking skills, business acumen, customer service skills, strong leadership skills, strong verbal communication skills and proven retail management skills.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma required; college degree preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of Optical experience, management and customer service experience in a high volume/fast paced retail environment.
  • Strong sales skills with a track record of exceeding sales goals.
  • Excellent communications and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to recruit, select and develop outstanding associate
  • 6+ months customer service and/or sales work with eyewear experience
  • Ability to interact successfully with both internal and external customers at all levels
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and be flexible with changing business needs in a team environment
  • Flexibility/ability to work any open/close store hours
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability and drive to thrive in a fast paced environment with shifting priorities
  • Attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks efficiently
  • Eligibility to work in the United States
