South Suburban Low Cost Veterinary Services is a privately owned small animal practice located Chicago Heights, IL. We are seeking an energetic, animal lover for a part time position to care for our patients in our veterinary hospital and assist veterinary technicians and doctors with daily tasks. The job involves physical work such as walking and bathing dogs, cleaning kennels, laundry, food prep, and general cleaning. The employee will have plenty of opportunity to assist and learn from our technicians and Doctor regarding technical skills. Animal handling experience is mandatory.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Proper animal restraint
- Assist in cleaning, stocking and maintenance of hospital and equipment
- Maintaining proper animal environment by cleaning kennels, providing fresh bedding and water at all times
- Preparing and distributing prescribed diets
- Assisting doctors and technicians as needed
- Client Service
- Medication preparation and administration
Requirements:
- minimum of 1yr animal handling experience preferred, but will train the right individual
- must be able to multi-task in a fast paced environment
- detail-oriented, outgoing, reliable and honest
- client service experience
- able to meet the demands of a physically and mentally challenging job
- weekend, evening and holiday availability
Physical Obligations:
- Able to lift up to 100 pounds
- Endure standing and walking on hard floor surfaces for extended periods of time
- Able to work in noisy work conditions with sounds from animals and equipment
- Take safety precautions for exposure to toxins, drugs, anesthesia and radiation
