Lab Support Services Associate I – Genova Diagnostics – Asheville, NC

Training & Work Hours:

9:15am – Finished (Mon-Fri), 10am – Finished (Saturday)

Tuesday – Friday, Rotation of Saturdays (2 on/1 off) and Mondays (every 4th)

*Overtime is possible with this position depending upon business need*

Position Summary:

LSS Associate will review all incoming requisitions and specimens to ensure that all internal requirements are met prior to the introduction of medical specimens in the laboratory.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:


Technical

  • Open sample collection supply kits
  • Clean any “messy” specimens.
  • Review of requisitions for completeness and accuracy. This includes physician information, patient demographics, and test specific information.
  • Review of specimens to ensure compliance to Genova Diagnostics’ specimen acceptance protocols.
  • File requisitions for specimens received without appropriate paperwork.
  • Organizing sample collection supply kits upon receipt.
  • Order Entry into the Laboratory Information System of all required information for laboratory analysis.
  • Labeling of all specimens.
  • Requisition organization.
  • Requisition and attachment scanning.


Other

  • Adhere to company safety procedures.
  • Available to work as scheduled Monday through Saturday until all sample collection supply kits are entered.
  • Assist with other duties as LSS management directs.
  • Works closely with all laboratory staff.
  • Applies Genova values to their work.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does require close communication with department and laboratory personnel.

Education and/or Experience:

This position requires a high school education. Data entry skills are required, sample collection supply kits processing skills preferred. Good communications skills required. Must work well with change, handle stress, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Must work well as part of a team and be able to follow direction.


Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to learn and utilize the laboratory information system.


Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job while wearing the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
