ICM SOUTH BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SPECIALIST II – Fairfax County Government – Alexandria, VA

Become a member of our South County Intensive Case Management (ICM) team!

Under supervision of the South County ICM Team Supervisor, this is an exciting and challenging opportunity to work collaboratively and communicate as part of a multidisciplinary team providing comprehensive, community based, clinical services. The South County ICM Team provides direct treatment, rehabilitation, clinical and community case management, crisis intervention and stabilization services, as well as support services to persons with serious and persistent mental illness.

The team includes a co-occurring specialist, nurse, psychiatrist, senior clinician, supervisor, peer support specialist, and mental health therapists/case managers; and is designed to provide outreach, engagement, and treatment services in community settings such as homes, shelters, employment sites, jails, and hospitals. Clinicians on the team document all services in a timely manner and ensure a tightly coordinated rehabilitation treatment plan by collaborating with the individual, support systems, primary care providers/specialists, other ICM team members, and other stakeholders in the individual’s recovery.

ICM services are highlighted by a strong emphasis on recovery, advocacy, empowerment, and partnership. The team is driven by a commitment to help individuals gain control of their recovery by effectively and independently managing all aspects of their lives in order to maintain community tenure.

The position is based out of the Gartlan Center, in the Mount Vernon area of Fairfax County. Work hours for the position are 8:30am to 5pm Monday through Friday.


BONUS:
This position includes a signing bonus for new county employees in the amount of $2,000 (full-time).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, nursing, counseling or a related field, plus one year of clinical experience or Bachelor’s degree and a valid Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) certification plus one year of clinical experience.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Contingent upon the area of assignment, some positions within this class may require specific certification(s) prior to employment and/or the ability to acquire necessary certification(s) within a specified time period following employment. The certifications are identified in the position description and employment advertisement.

  • MANDT (within 3 months of hire)
  • CPR (within 3 months of hire )
  • Medication Administration Assistance (VA) (within 3 months of hire )
  • Qualified Mental Health Professional – Adult (QMHP-A) – (within 1 month of hire)
  • Qualified Mental Health Case Manager (QMHCM) – (within 1 month of hire)
  • Valid Motor Vehicle Driver’s license with fewer than six demerit points (or the equivalent in another State) maintained throughout employment with CSB.


NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a Child Protective Services Registry check, a driving record check, and sanction screening to the satisfaction of the employer. A TB screening upon hire and annually thereafter.

This position is emergency/essential services personnel. (Required to report for duty during inclement weather and/or other emergencies.)

All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. Proof of an exemption or vaccination status will be required during the pre-employment onboarding process. New employees who obtain an exemption from the vaccine mandate for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs will still be subject to the weekly testing requirement. Vaccinated employees and employees with a medical or religious exemption will complete the attestation online on their first day of employment or shortly thereafter.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Past experience working with mentally ill adults in the community, jails, hospitals, and shelters.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to drive a car, communicate with clients and coworkers, observe and report on client appearance and behavior. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, and write as needed. Ability to operate keyboard driven computer equipment and read data on monitor. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
