This is an exciting opportunity to join the expanding outpatient Psychiatry service in Hillcrest. Patient care and safety is the utmost duty and coordination with clinical care teams. One component of the job includes the novel treatment of ketamine, led by a physician and monitored by the RN. Other duties include clinic inspections for safety and regulatory purposes, physician in basket management in line with scope of practice, processing prior authorizations and assisting in safe medication practices. Psychiatric experience is preferred. Incumbent report to the Clinic Manager. Required travel between UCSD sites, including La Jolla and Rancho Bernardo.

Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.

  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.

  • RN License issued by the State of California.

  • BART or BLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Minimum two (2) years RN experience with at least one (1) year working with psychiatric population.

  • BSN.
  • Experience with interventional psychiatric treatments (i.e., ketamine and electroconvulsive therapy).
  • Experience with EPIC, EMR.
  • Previous UCSD Experience.
  • Bilingual in both Spanish and English.
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • Selected candidate may be hired at the CNIII level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.
