Registered Nurse (Remote-Phone Triage) – Pediatric Care Clinic – FT – Day – #6166

Stormont Vail Health is searching for a Registered Nurse (Remote-Phone Triage) – Pediatric Care Clinic – FT – Day – #6166 in our Pediatric care Clinic department. This position is at 4100 SW 15TH STREET, TOPEKA, KS 66604-4333 USA.

Schedule: Full time – 36 hours/week or greater

Shift: First Shift (Days – Less than 12 hours per shift)

Weekly Work Schedule: 8am-5pm M-F

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • BSN preferred.
  • Meets educational preparation or other qualifications within specified timeframes as determined/outlined by specific department policy.
  • One year of professional nursing experience in a clinic setting preferred.
  • Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide on-going patient care.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Current RN licensure in the State of Kansas.
  • Additional certification may be required for certain patient care settings or populations. The department director will provide specific information and the timeframe in which such certification must be attained at the time of hire/transfer into department.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Summary:

Provides professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Triage incoming telephone calls.
  • Record and reports patient’s condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to interdisciplinary team. Provide instruction to patients/family regarding treatment.
  • Oversee appointment bookings and ensure preferences are given to patients in emergency situations. Maintains timely flow of patients.
  • Arranges for patient testing and admissions.
  • Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
