Position Title: Child & Adolescent Counselor

Positions Available: 1 Full-time

About the Organization

SAFE in Hunterdon is dedicated to offering safety, hope, supportive services, and advocacy to survivors of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault in Hunterdon County. SAFE also provides educational programming to the community with focus on prevention.

SAFE in Hunterdon is currently funded to offer community education services, legal advocacy, and individual and group counseling for adults, children and adolescents. All of our services are confidential, and all crisis services are free of charge.

Position Summary:

Provides individual and group counseling to child and adolescent clients. Provides advocacy, case management, and referrals as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct Services: Provides counseling, support groups, information and referral and case management for victims. Provides systems advocacy to identify community-based support for victims and their families. Provides case management, information, referral and education for clients.
  • Programming: Participates in program planning, and development to serving victims including special populations. Provides community education, other professionals, and to the general public as needed.
  • Administrative Tasks: Completes and maintains agency forms, documentation and grant reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills Required:

  • Sensitivity towards and understanding of victimization, especially the experience of survivors of domestic violence
  • Strong communication and organizational skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure in a calm and reassuring manner;
  • Basic understanding of computer and systems
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Working knowledge of videoconferencing software (ie. Zoom, Google Meet, Doxy.me, etc.)

Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field required. Clinical licensure including LSW/LAC and/or LCSW/LPC preferred.
  • Experience: Case management, counseling, work with survivors of violence/trauma, or other related experience. Experience in a start-up is a plus.
  • Training: Completion of agency 60-hour domestic violence & sexual assault training in the first year of employment, or certificate of completion from another agency. Preferred for applicants to have training in child, adolescent, and/or trauma focused modalities such as TF-CBT, play therapy, etc.
  • Languages: English required, bi-lingual is a plus but not required.
  • Other: Valid driver’s license. Clear a criminal history background check.

Pay: $50,000.00 – $60,000.00 per month
