Radiology Tech Assistant – Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center
I. Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
To provide support for Imaging modalities by assisting technologists in preparing patients for studies, receiving and greeting patients, facilitating patient flow, documenting patient information.
II. Employment Qualifications
- High school or equivalent
- Basic computer knowledge
III. Essential Job Functions
- Assisting technologists with patient workflow and patient care by:
o Escorting patients to and from technical area
o Assisting with patient paperwork (e.g. patient history)
o Rounding on patients
o Attends to simple needs of patients
o Monitors patients as necessary
- Assist with paperwork
o Questionnaires
o Faxing information
o Gathering quality data if necessary
- Demonstrates proficiency in radiology and hospital systems and computer applications
o To include but not limited to:
- Retrieval of patient information, ability to scan patient schedule
- Maintains a safe environment
o Practices patient safety by following the National Patient Safety Guidelines
o Practices departmental safety according to policy and the Joint Commission recommendations
o Documents completely, accurately and appropriately
o Is aware of ALARA and follows state and federal regulations as relates to the position
- Follows current HIPAA standards
- Communicates effectively, compassionately, and respectively to all
- Professional interaction with physicians, technologists, physician offices, hospital staff and patients
- Optimizes resources
o Practices time management by managing overtime
o Practices proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment
o Adheres to the organization’s guidelines on recycling and red bag waste reductions
