Authorization Specialist /Insurance Eligibility – Blue Hill Plaza, Pearl River, NY – Montefiore Nyack Hospital – Rockland County, NY

Highland Medical, P.C. a division of Montefiore Nyack Hospital has an opportunity for an Authorizations/Insurance Eligibility Specialist to work closely with the medical practices within Highland Medical. Responsible for verifying patients’ insurance eligibility, as well as pre-authorizations for services ordered by Providers, while utilizing an EMR system, in a timely manner to meet time sensitive deadlines.

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Must have work experience in a Doctor’s practice setting. Experience performing authorizations and insurance eligibility for Patients. Must have an understanding of medical office services to patients, medical terminology, billing, insurance carriers including Medicare and Medicaid. Must have experience working with an electronic health record system EMR (Nextgen/Medent/Epic). Employee must effectively present information to physicians, physician extender(s), patients, patient family members, and employees of the medical practice. Employee must have basic knowledge documenting information in an electronic health record. Candidate must be able to multi-task and have excellent communication to speak over the phone the majority of the time with patients and insurance companies. Must have good work history and reliable transportation.
