Position Summary (Purpose of job):

The position primarily accountable for performing call center, customer service to our clients. This position is a non-clinical position that is responsible for knowing administrative components of managed care such as benefit coverage, claim payment, utilization management and provider network contract status. This position is based in an inbound call center setting for both providers and members.


Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for answering all incoming calls to the Medical Management Department. Does follow-up on all calls including looking up authorization numbers and provider and eligibility information to PCP office’s and members.

Conducts call backs, returns voicemail messages, and maintains work in queue when follow-up is required.


Minimum Job Qualifications:


Education
– High School Diploma or GED. Associate degree (A.A. or equivalent from two- year college or Medical/technical school preferred.


Business Experience
– Six months to one year of related experience preferred if no formal education beyond high school.


Specialized Knowledge/Skills –
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to physicians, patients, families, and other members of the health care team. Strong organizational skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Skilled at typing on a personal computer.


Working Conditions:

Environment (Office, warehouse, etc.) – Office cubicle environment Indoors, heated/air conditioned office. Position is essentially sedentary; incumbent spends approximately 50% of the time in a sitting position and 50% of the time walking and standing.

Physical Requirements (Lifting, standing, etc.) – Occasional lifting/carrying of computer listings, boxes and supplies up to 50 pounds. Frequently, approximately 75% of the time uses personal computer, and copy machine.
