Director of Clinical Operations – Affinis Hospice – Newnan, GA

SUMMARY

Assumes primary responsibility for clinical services provided by the hospice agencies and assures compliance with federal and state regulations as they apply to the provision of home visits to patients. The position requires knowledge and skill of professional nursing theory and practice, leadership in administration, principles of effective teaching and learning, fiscal management, and effective interpersonal relationships and communication. Knowledge, understanding, acceptance, and support of the philosophy, objectives, and policies of the nursing service and the institution as a whole are essential.:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Coordinates and oversees all direct and indirect patient services provided by clinical personnel.
  • Liaison between sub-contractors and professional staff.
  • Monitors agency level adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Annually or more often if needed evaluates policies and procedures and assists in development of additional guidelines as required.
  • Monitoring of staff performance, makes recommendations, and coordinates with administrator on evaluations.
  • Develops and implements annual education requirements for all clinical staff.
  • Supervise patient visits as necessary.
  • Coordinates patient records and quality assurance activities.
  • Assists in hiring, corrective action, and termination processes.
  • Evaluates and ensures survey readiness in all agencies.
  • Assures compliance with all local, state, and federal laws regarding licensure and certification of organization personnel.
  • Maintains home care standards pertaining to hospice services.
  • Evaluates and assures proper maintenance of clinical records in compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Collaborates with the Vice President of Operations to ensure compliance with quality measures and assists with corrective plan of action.
  • Assists the Vice President of Operations in evaluation of agency administrators.
  • Assures appropriate orientation of new hire nursing staff.
  • Facilitates coordination of patient care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Operations.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Requires strong skills in the area of hospice operations, knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations, and management team development. Effective communication and delegation skills are required.
  • Must accept responsibility for ensuring that the team has appropriate clinical practice skills for the direction and supervision of hospice services, learning and implementing the guidelines of the organization on an on-going basis.
  • Ability to travel throughout the areas serviced by Affinis Hospice.
  • Clearly understands the organizational structure.
  • Considerable knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations governing human resources management and hospice related services and activities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, clinical supervisors, administrators, senior leadership, and the general public.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a Registered Nurse, currently licensed in the State of Georgia, BSN preferred.
  • 5+ years of clinical experience required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in hospice
  • 1+ years of supervisory experience as a Director of Nursing

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must be a Registered Nurse, currently licensed in the State of Georgia. Must have a valid Driver’s license.::
