Clinical Documentation Educator – Emergency Department – Sturdy Memorial Hospital – Attleboro, MA

The Clinical Documentation Educator (CDE) is responsible for providing Clinical Documentation Improvement oversight related to the concurrent review of the clinical documentation in the inpatient medical record. This position assumes responsibility for regulatory documentation audits and EMR education activities with clinical and ancillary staff. The CDE collaborates with healthcare team members to make improvements that result in accurate and comprehensive documentation that reflect the clinical and quality treatment for each patient. The CDE uses clinical expertise and clinical documentation improvement practices to ensure best practice documentation as well as compliance with the mission, goals and core values of Sturdy Memorial Hospital.

Required Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in clinical nursing practice
• Prior committee and/or project focused work
• Demonstrated knowledge of change management principles and teamwork
• Proficiency in communication/interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate across disciplines
• Strong organizational skills with flexibility, ability to prioritize, and work independently
• Computer skills and proficiency with basic Microsoft Office tools
• Experience with clinical systems technology
• Ability to independently perform documentation audits and provide timely feedback
• Ability to educate staff on documentation and performance requirements using adult learning theory

Preferred Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:

• BSN required

License/Certification:

• Current and active Massachusetts RN license required

Report to: Sr. Director of Inpatient Services
