ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF NURSING – Community Medical Centers Inc – Stockton, CA

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a member of the CMCs leadership team, the Associate Director of Nursing helps to supports an interdisciplinary team approach to the delivery of care to patients, families and the community. This position focuses on creating clinically competent, team-based nursing leadership in the individual clinics. This includes supporting an environment in which collaboration is valued and excellence in clinical care, education, and innovation is promoted and achieved through nursing services. The Associate Director of Nursing reports to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

• Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization.

• Works collaboratively with the CNO in the development of nursing and clinical support staff policy and procedures that ensure quality patient care in a team care environment.
• Actively participates in and supports corporate efforts to create an exceptional staff and patient experience.
• Works with the Human Resources and the site managers to recruit, interview, hire, and onboard nursing personnel.
• Works with the CNO, the Experience and Learning Manager and the back-office trainers to orient, maintain skills competency checklists, ongoing education, and support of nursing personnel.
• Promotes ongoing communication, on site observation, and mentoring of nursing personnel through the system
• Provides direct supervision of clinical support services, including but not limited to the Transition of care department and the Prescription refill department.
• Integrates clinical best practices into clinical care processes in collaboration with the CNO, CMO and COO.
• Coordinates with the CNO to develop appropriate staffing ratios for nurses to provide services at CMC facilities/programs, assists Clinic in maintaining appropriate levels of nursing staff to meet the clinical needs of the sites.

• Assures adherence of nursing services to program expectations, State, Federal, and local licensure or regulatory requirements, and to accreditation standards at all sites
• Participates in the administrative planning team and on other internal or external committees and groups as assigned by the CEO or CNO.
• Assists the Director of Environmental Safety and CNO in communicable disease control and employee health maintenance as identified in protocols, policies, or by external public health entities
• Assists the Director of Quality Improvement and the site level QI Coordinators to provide support, training, and staff development to achieve clinical quality initiatives.
• Works with the back office trainers and Clinic and Nurse Managers to provide on-site training in the areas of OSHA, Blood Borne Pathogens, Hazardous Materials Exposure, and other safety related issues
• Performs other duties as assigned or required

• Skill in the direct provision of nursing and nursing support services to patients

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

May require sitting for long periods of time. Occasional bending, stretching, or lifting. Requires frequent walking and standing for prolonged periods of time. May require lifting and carrying items which weigh up to 35 pounds. Vision must be correctable to 20/40 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts. Requires the ability to work under stressful conditions. Requires the ability to drive to other corporate locations, to fly to out-of-town conferences, and to work evening or weekends as needed

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Clinic and office environment with occasional work performed at other agencies such as schools, housing programs, or outside where exposure to rain, heat, dust, wind, pesticides, pollens, blood borne pathogens, toxic chemicals, and toxic waste may occur. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelors degree with 3 years of experience (preferred), or AA degree with 5 years of experience. Experience should reflect progressive responsibility in nursing operation management. Clinical Leadership Experience in a community health setting is preferred.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
• Written and verbal communication skills in English commensurate with College level education
• Valid California Driver’s License, proof of insurance, and personal transportation
