Mobile Specimen Collector – Bio-Reference Laboratories, Inc. – Elmwood Park, NJ

We are looking for a Mobile Specimen Collector 40 hours per week in our Elmwood Park, NJ location.

Schedule: Monday to Friday 7:00AM – 3:30PM

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Mobile Specimen Collector will conduct specimen collection and is responsible for pickup and delivery of medical samples from various clients along a specific route. The Mobile Specimen Collector will provide service to patients, maintain safe and secure transportation of staff members, and follows all policies and procedures established by BioReference Laboratories.

PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES – Duties may include but are not necessarily limited to the following:

  • Drive a non-commercial vehicle throughout the shift on various roads and in varying weather conditions.
  • Safely transport lab specimens and staff to specified locations in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate safe and courteous driving behavior.
  • Greets patients in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Records (performs) daily temperatures, decontamination, and performs all other necessary documentation requirements.
  • Maintains a clean & safe work environment.
  • Maintains supply inventory and accurately replenishes supplies upon completion of daily operations.
  • Wears appropriate PPE, approved scrubs, and appropriate footwear during specimen collection/processing.
  • Responds positively to changes in workload as needed.
  • Verifies patient identification, verifies all tests ordered and completes all required demographic data and requisitions.
  • Contacts client to retrieve any missing data.
  • Understands compliance protocols and (PHI/HIPAA)
  • Complies with OSH and DEP regulations regarding barrier protection, sharps disposal, hazardous waste disposal (retaining manifests), and proper specimen transport.
  • Completes annual training and completes continuing education training.
  • Maintains training documents and competency assessments evaluations on site.
  • Notifies their Site Manager of any incidents or issues immediately.
  • Understands patient adverse reactions protocols.
  • Follows proper incident procedures in the event of an accident, specimen breakage, specimen spill, and patient injury.
  • Reviews outlook throughout the day for any new corporate emails that may include operational updates /Memos.
  • Reviews and signs corporate emails/memos.
  • Collects anterior nares swabs for professional clientele.
  • Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
  • Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the anterior nares swabbing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A valid phlebotomy certification, lab assistant training, medical assistant training or similar formal clinical education.
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving history with at least 4 years of licensed driving experience.
  • Provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
  • Successfully pass pre-employment (post offer) drug screen and MVR check.
  • Basic ability to use mobile applications and general computer programs.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Problem solving skills.
