Scrub/Radiologic Technologist – Vascular Institute of Kansas – Wichita, KS

The Vascular Institute of Kansas (VIK) is hiring experienced Radiologic Technologists for a new outpatient endovascular surgery center located in Wichita, Kansas. Founded by three of the only board-certified vascular surgeons in the area, VIK is focused on providing state-of-the-art vascular care in a safe, convenient, outpatient setting.

Ideal candidates have experience working in peripheral vascular or cardiovascular care and/or working in an outpatient surgery center, cath lab, or hospital operating room. Position Summary:

Vascular Institute of Kansas (VIK) operates a highly specialized outpatient endovascular care facility. The Scrub/Radiologic Technologist is a key member of the vascular practice who helps provide an atmosphere of compassionate and quality care to patients and their families. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health. Adheres to all policies related to PHI and HIPAA privacy practices.

Qualifications:

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification: Required
  • Minimum of Associates Degree in Radiologic Technology: Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Radiologic Technology: Preferred
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR): Required
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS): Required within 90 days of hire
  • Minimum one-year experience as a Radiologic Technologist: Required
  • Cardiovascular and/or peripheral vascular disease experience: Preferred
  • Cardiac catheterization lab experience: Preferred
  • In good physical and mental health
  • Detail oriented, thorough, and exact
  • Provides quality patient care to VIK patients during various endovascular procedures, and in other areas as needed
  • Maintain an orderly, efficient, and timely flow of patients
  • Observes universal precautions and utilizes sterile techniques
  • Observes the ALARA safety principle, ensuring minimal radiation doses are used during procedures
  • Prepares patients for endovascular procedures and assists in post procedure care if needed
  • Helps maintain and verifies that radiation generating (X-Ray) equipment is in working order
  • Maintain a clean and orderly procedure rooms, common areas and workspace
  • Check procedure rooms daily and restock with supplies as needed
  • Provide continuity of care, professional communication with all team members in a fast-paced work environment
  • Assess patient/family level of understanding to enhance effective communication and education
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership and supervisory staff
