Archer Western a member of The Walsh Group is currently seeking a Professional Structual Engineer for our Carolina’s Transportation Group, on a Bascule Bridge Project located in Camp Lejeune, NC

Responsibilities:

The Structural Engineer’s responsibilities include:

Ensures that construction work complies with engineering principles for assigned project(s). May provide engineering calculation/design for temporary construction on site.

  • Ensures project design items conform to engineering practices and procedures, comply with
    company and contractual requirements and support overall construction schedule.
  • Provides technical support for construction efforts including participation in construction planning
    and design, interpretation of design, application of construction methods, resolution and
    documentation of design conflicts. Responsible for the design or review of temporary falsework,
    support of excavation (SOE), bridge decking/overhands and fall protection systems.
  • Reviews existing processes and procedures and recommends advancements.
  • Represents company or project during design management meetings.
  • Provides design input for design/build estimates and other alternate procurement endeavors.
    Reviews initial, 20%, 50% drawings created by design partners during alternate procurement
    bidding opportunities.

Qualifications:

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent
  • 6 years of experience
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in NC
  • Strong problem solving abilities
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time
  • Strong follow up
  • Ability to establish relationships and lead people
  • Self-motivated
  • Critical thinking and decision making skills
  • Prioritize, develop, and maintain project schedules
  • Advanced knowledge of construction and engineering design, calculations, technology, codes, and
    standards as well as an in-depth understanding of the interdependence and relationship between other
    functional units
