REGISTERED NURSE – NORTH COASTAL ACT (Essential position) – Mental Health Systems, Inc – Oceanside, CA

JOB SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse provides direct care to program clients, which includes monitoring both the psychiatric and physical health of clients. Administers medications, assess symptoms and evaluates patient progress. Implements and oversees the Patient Assistance Program, provides supervisions and consultation for LVNs and supervises student nurses.

· Partner with and lead treatment team to provide service coordination for clients including development and implementation of treatment goals. · Dispense and account for all prescribed medication, assist Psychiatrist in administering and evaluating medications prescribed by Psychiatrist, medication effectiveness, side effects, and complications, and arrange for lab work according to protocol. Participate in and represent program at quarterly Medication Monitoring Committee meetings. · In collaboration with the treatment team, participate in the organization and management of medication coaching and delivery to clients. Integrate medication administration into treatment plans. · Work directly with clients and family members to provide support and symptom management. · Introduce clients to Common Ground software, assist clients in completing the Common Ground Health Report before medical office visits, and conduct comprehensive assessment of psychiatric history and physical health needs as part of the treatment team. · Provide on-call crisis intervention covering nighttime hours and serve as a back-up to evening and weekend / holiday staff as needed. Work late shift and/or weekends / holidays as scheduled. Transport clients in MHS or personal vehicle as required. · Assist in administering Patient Assistance Program, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in all aspects, and complete all charting and documentation as contractually required in a timely manner and as dictated by program requirements. · Act as liaison with Program Psychiatrist to obtain corrections to documentation and adjustments to procedures as needed. Meet on a regular basis with Program Leadership to ensure that all medical policy and procedures are followed. · Serve in a mentoring role to staff and interns regarding pharmacology and patient care. · Demonstrate adequate care and responsibility for equipment and ensure facilities upkeep and safety. · Comply with all MHS and program rules, policies and procedures including HIPAA standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Valid licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California · Minimum of one year of experience working as a Registered Nurse and one year of experience treating psychiatric and dually diagnosed populations preferred · Knowledge of CCISC initiative as it related to patient care · Bilingual in English/Spanish, Vietnamese, Tagalog or Arabic highly desirable · Demonstrated knowledge of cultural and socio-economic factors that inform service provision to persons with psychiatric or dual diagnosis disorders; demonstrated ability to engage culturally diverse populations · Ability to problem solve and react appropriately to emergency situations
· Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with a team · Demonstrated ability to work with minimal direction and supervision. Uses resourcefulness and takes initiative to accomplish tasks and goals · Ability to create written documentation that is legible, clear and concise · Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and EHR software · Strong verbal communications skills, and the ability to interpret, explain and advise about medical information to clients, staff, family members and community providers · Valid California driver’s license and current auto insurance coverage.
PAY RATE: $40 – $42/HR
