Store Cashier FT – Goodwill Industries Of Central Florida Inc – Mount Dora, FL

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the General Manager, operate cash register and assist customers. Major duties include ringing up all sales transactions, operating cash register, greeting and assisting customers/donors.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES


  • Ring up all sales transactions into the cash register and complete sales.
  • Ensure that each customer receives the proper change and correct receipt for purchase.
  • Follow policies and procedures concerning cash, check, charge card transactions, voids, gift cards and change Round Up program.
  • Account accurately for all transactions; including cash and charge documentation.
  • Service cash register when necessary; change tapes, and prepare the register for the next shift.
  • Greet each customer with a courteous, friendly and professional attitude; provide prompt, efficient, and accurate customer service at all times.
  • Direct customers to proper area and provide general information as requested.
  • Responsible for keeping the register area clean and orderly at all times.
  • Stay alert and watch for shoplifting; notify store management on suspicious activity.
  • Maintain well-groomed appearance and appropriate dress code including name badge and vest.


ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES


  • Rotate stock on a timely basis and in accordance with established procedures; bring stock to sales floor in a timely manner.
  • Place and present all merchandise on appropriate racks in accordance with merchandising policies and procedures.
  • Assist in textile color rotation per established procedure.
  • Answer telephone promptly using established etiquette procedure.
  • Refer all customer complaints to management in a timely manner.
  • Follow Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) procedures and other Public Protection Guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES

Education and/or Experience:

High School education or equivalent is preferred. Previous retail and/or cashiering experience is highly preferred.

Math Ability:

Level 1: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.


Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills and beginner knowledge of touch screen cash register.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

  • Regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

  • Standing and walking for long periods of time.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, push and pull.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.


Language Ability:

Level 3: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups.

Reasoning Ability:

Level 2: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


License and Certifications:
