Patient Access Team Lead

Position Summary:

This is a Team Lead Position. Medical experience and LPN License are required.

The Patient Service Representative will provide services, timely and efficiently, at appropriate levels to all patients and in all settings served by the department. The PSR will also perform tasks and duties as outlined in the Department’s Policy and Procedure Manual: will assist in assigned administrative tasks and will maintain competencies through participation in educational and orientation programs. Good communication skills are required as well as the ability to work as a team to ensure quality patient care.

Service Excellence:

Participates in the Hospital’s Service Excellence Program designed to improve patient care, employee and physician satisfaction. Participation includes knowledge of HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Systems and Providers, which measures patient’s perceptions of care received and Core Measure Set, which measures performance of patients’, care based on medical research.

Tasks:

* Promotes teamwork & encourages others in the department
* Is actively involved in looking for ways to improve the department
* Deals constructively with departmental changes
* Provides excellent customer service
* Works well with other departments & clearly verbalizes our departmental needs
* Notifies the appropriate person(s) of concerns with patients or office procedures
* Timely & accurate filing of office documents in the appropriate area
* Answers multiple phone lines promptly and politely and accurately documents messages
* Schedules patient appointments according to office policy
* Forwards telephone calls appropriately and follows up on return calls
* Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner.
* Checks in patients, verifies and updates necessary information in the medical record
* Sorts and delivers mail daily
* Maintains work and lobby area in a neat and orderly manner
* Collects patient payments at the time of service per office policy
* Verifies patient insurance coverage and financial responsibility prior to appointment
* Completion of Surgery packet following the outlined steps
* Authorization of surgeries to include benefit information
* Coordination and collection of patients surgical out of pocket expense
* Timely scheduling of surgeries following the outlined steps
* Timely scheduling outgoing referrals following outlined steps
* Works patient accounts receivable timely
* Timely charge entry & Dashboard work as assigned
* Follows up on outstanding patient accounts receivable as assigned
* Timely ordering of supplies
* Intake and vital signs as needed

Requirements Must hold current LPN license.

High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum of 6 months Medical Office Experience preferred Must have outstanding organizational skills Customer Service Experience recommended
