Position Overview

This is a full-time, exempt position at the Seattle Colleges that is funded by the Families, Education, Preschool and Promise (FEPP) Levy. This position is responsible for data management and analysis, research, planning and evaluation for the highly successful Seattle Promise program at Seattle Colleges. This position offers the unique opportunity to collaborate with Seattle Colleges Institutional Research leadership, program leadership and student-facing staff, college leadership at all three Seattle Colleges, City of Seattle Data Teams, and Seattle Public Schools Data Analysts on a regular basis. Seattle Promise has a goal to close race-based educational achievement gaps, and this position will inform how we make that vision a reality by conducting detailed analysis of student progress and outcomes.

What you will be working on:

  • You’ll provide oversight and leadership of the assessment process for Seattle Promise in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including working with Seattle Colleges senior leadership and City of Seattle and Seattle Public Schools partners.
  • You’ll monitor progress by conducting detailed analysis on student outcomes to ensure we are making progress towards our goals.
  • You’ll lead efforts to advance equitable student success by authoring quarterly and annual reports to inform continuous program improvement.
  • You’ll develop interactive dashboards for internal and public use to visualize student progress and program effectiveness.
  • You’ll engage in the annual Seattle Promise contract process and will work closely with program, college, and City leadership to manage the quarterly data deliverables outlined in the contract.
  • You’ll manage the multiple Seattle Promise data sharing agreements with external organizations.
  • You’ll work with the district Institutional Research team to align unit-level planning with college-wide strategic planning
  • You’ll design and conduct qualitative data collection to measure the success of individual program components.

What you bring as a candidate:

  • Master’s Degree in Data Science, Analytics, Business, or related field or equivalent experience (bachelor’s degree plus at least 3 years’ experience in a related field).
  • Demonstrated experience in an administrative role in higher education or related setting.
  • Demonstrated experience with quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Demonstrated experience with using data and information technology to inform planning and practice in a higher education or related setting.
  • Demonstrated competence with statistical software, spreadsheets, pivot tables, and database querying software.
  • Experience in the following areas:
  • Complex relational databases, data warehousing, and data management;
  • Use of SQL to extract and merge complex data sets;
  • Development of queries to extract data from multiple, complex sets;
  • Development of data dashboards using Tableau;
  • Development and implementation of quality control measures to ensure accuracy of deliverables;
  • Presenting complex information to non-technical audiences;
  • Responding to end user data needs;
  • Prioritizing multiple tasks and projects to meet ongoing and sometimes competing deadlines;
  • Analyzing problems and making appropriate decisions or judgements related to complex research projects;
  • Working effectively in a team.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform range of physical motions, exerting up to 25 pounds; lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds; standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, kneeling, squatting, and stooping; and traversing up and down stairs.
