Responsibilities:
- Develop applications, testing and support production environment using mainframe technologies including but not limited: COBOL, MVS, JCL, VSAM, and CICS
- Participate in meetings and discussions with Functional/Technical Leads to understand the requirements and build out technical designs, programming logic, and workflows
- Participate in code reviews and ensure the code written complies with the company standards and policies
- Use industry-standard naming conventions, coding standards, problem-solving skills, and best practices in the SDLC
- Prepare Requirements and Design documents as needed
- Write unit tests (document and code) for the application packages
- Support proper unit testing of artifacts to ensure a smooth transition to System Testing and User Acceptance Testing
- Apply healthcare domain knowledge to verify requirement and code development
- Support Production Operations/Maintenance as necessary
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering with experience as a Mainframe Developer
- Prior development experience on Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) or government healthcare projects
- Possess a strong understanding of Medicaid Management Information Systems
- Should have prior experience in developing large-scale and complex applications in a mainframe environment
- Strong knowledge of all phases of application development – SDLC
- Strong knowledge of Mainframe application environment: COBOL, MVS, JCL, VSAM, and CICS
- Strong knowledge of utilities in mainframe environment: File-AID, File Manager, ChangeMan, SPUFI, TSO/ISPF, and Xpediter
- Knowledge of databases such as DB2, Oracle, and VSAM along with SQL and stored procedures
- Experience in Agile development methodology
- Able to interact and coordinate with senior management and all non-technical/technical members of the organization
- Strong analytical/problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills including verbal and written
