Child Welfare Trainer – Endeavors – Pecos, TX

JOB PURPOSE:

The Child Welfare Trainer is responsible for providing training sessions to the staff of the Pecos Children’s Center, and ensuring the strong delivery of content in Trauma-Informed Care, De-Escalation Techniques, Cultural Competency, Human Trafficking and the Prevention of Sexual Abuse. The position is located at the Pecos Children’s Center or other shelters for unaccompanied migrant children as appropriate.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Provide new employee orientation and training sessions

· Assist in the development of curriculum as needed to strengthen training

· Coordinate across departments (case management, shelter care, mental health, medical) on needed training

· Develop, in conjunction with subject matter experts, compressive training in the Visionlink system

· Develop and oversee, in conjunction with on-site experts, the implementation of a training program for ORR’s UC Portal

· Provide small-group training in leadership development and management for line-staff leaders

· Provided coaching for staff as needed to ensure classroom learning is applied in the care of children

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

· Masters in Social Work, counseling, or related mental health field strongly preferred

EXPERIENCE:

· Understanding of the needs of migrant children, especially unaccompanied children

· Strong presence and public speaking skills

· 1-3 years experience in teaching/training with large and small groups

· In-depth knowledge of principles of Trauma-Informed Care and de-escalation techniques

· Understanding of adult learning and ability to modify instruction styles to facilitate the best learning for differing groups of learners

· Ability to present in English and in Spanish is preferred

· Experience in creating multi-media presentations a plus

LICENSES:

· Child Life Certification

· CPR Certification

WORK LOCATION:

· In-person at Pecos children’s center.

OTHER: Operational needs may require occasional evenings or weekend supervision. Able and willing to travel 25% of annual time

MANAGEMENT: Knowledge of business and management practices involved in strategic planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and leadership. Works with a bias towards action. Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of initiatives. Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and reliable.

NEGOTIATION: Ability to persuade and influence regulatory representatives to reach optimum audit and/or investigation results. Ability to present the organization in a professional manner in all negotiations.

ORGANIZATION: Ability to keep various ongoing projects organized and files maintained accurately. Above normal levels of concentration and memory required. Requires good time management practices and the ability to meet multiple deadlines.

PLANNING: Ability to think long term; up to one year in advance. Knowledge of project management processes and best practices.

TECHNICAL: Ability to develop and comprehend numerical and statistical data analysis. Expertise in process mapping.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

Orientation: 5 hours

On the Job: 6 months to one year

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Constant – Ability to communicate with veterans, their family members, staff, and community/support services personnel to determine needs and actions to be taken.

Frequent – Ability to input data into a computer, make calculations, complete paperwork, produce reports.

Occasional – Ability to lift, stack, load and move up to 25 pounds from varied heights.

Occasional – Ability to drive safely and recognize hazards.

RELATION TO OTHER JOBS:

REPORTS TO: Sr. Manager, Training and Compliance and on-site staffing unit at PCC

SUPERVISES: Coordinators
