Community Dental Care seeks a full-time Hygienist to join our Robbinsdale team! Help make a difference at a non-profit! Community Dental Care is devoted to keeping patient and employees safe. In response to COVID-19, we are continually updating our already robust infection protocols to include the latest CDC, OSHA, and Board of Dentistry requirements and recommendations.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Hygienist assists the dentist in providing oral health to patients by cleaning, scaling and polishing teeth. Takes and processes X-rays. Records evaluation of mouth conditions and extent of prophylaxis on dental chart to provide dentist with information for more complete diagnoses and subsequent treatment if needed. Provides the patient with ongoing preventive oral care through patient education, treatment and reinforcement of the doctor’s treatment plan. Adheres to all required OSHA and health regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete prophylaxis to include scaling, root planning and polishing of restorations
  • Preliminary charting of oral cavity and surrounding structures; to include case histories, perform initial and periodic
  • examinations and assessments to determine periodontal status and formulate a dental hygiene treatment plan in coordination with a dentist?s treatment plan
  • Dietary Analysis
  • Etch appropriate enamel surfaces, application and adjustment of pit and fissure sealants
  • Replacement, cementation and adjustment of intact temporary restorations extraorally and intraorally
  • Removal of marginal overhangs
  • Make referrals to dentists, medical doctors, and other practitioners in consultation with a dentist
  • Administer local anesthesia
  • Administer nitrous oxide inhalations analgesia
  • Remove temporary crowns with hand instruments only
  • Fabricate, cement, and adjust temporary restorations
  • Place and remove matrix bands
  • Call and confirm appointments for the following day during down time
  • Make recall phone calls during down time

HOURS:
Monday through Thursday 7:15am – 4:30pm
Friday 7:15am – 2:00pm

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency in a second language preferred
  • Experience in working with culturally diverse, limited-English or non-English speaking patients preferred
  • Knowledge of updated OSHA regulations
  • Demonstrated expertise in dental software
  • Understand and perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • Registered Dental Hygienists license (RDH)
  • Ability to quickly adapt within a constantly changing work environment

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:

  • Required current licenses/certifications: RDH license, CPR/AED Certificate
