Associate Systems Analyst – West Virginia University Hospital – Morgantown, WV

Responsible for design, development, testing,

implementation and maintenance of new and legacy systems. Assists customers in identifying systems

solutions to meet functional needs, streamline, and ensure patient safety and

confidentiality.

MINIMUM

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1.

Bachelors degree in healthcare, computer science, business or

informatics related field OR four (4) years experience working with

business, clinical or administrative applications required.

2.

This position may require additional certification

in support of the responsibilities of the position, which will be provided by

WVUHS Information Technology. Certification completion will be required

within four months of formal certification training completion.

3.

Internal employees must meet all mandatory

competencies in current position in order to qualify for promotion within IT.

PREFERRED

QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE:
1.

Business

Applications: Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) workflows

such as: finance, supply chain, HR/payroll. Experience with business operations

workflow in a healthcare environment preferred, such as

admitting/registration, appointment scheduling, billing, insurance

verification, accounts receivable, collections, accounts payable, physician

credentialing, and/or HIM (Medical Records). Experience with financial

statement preparation/analysis, financial systems administration and

accounting workflows.

2.

Clinical

Applications: Experience in an inpatient or outpatient clinical setting

preferred. Experience with patient flow, physician/clinician workflow,

medical terminology, and the medical record, preferably in the clinical area

to be supported by this position, preferred.

3.

Web

Applications: Web Service experience preferred. Experience with IE, XML &

HTML preferred. Experience with Crystal Reports preferred.

4.

Integration/EDI: Knowledge

of HL7 Message Structures, HL7 Events, and other healthcare interfacing

standards preferred. Experience leading or managing projects preferred.

System

Analysis: Assists in analyzing system issues and workflows. Assists in

research and data gathering with clients and other team members. Assists in

modification requests as assigned. Assists in Implementing system

modifications as assigned. Engages in expanding knowledge of existing user

workflows. Assists in performing functional and integrated testing for basic

workflows. Assist in applying user security under the guidance of a higher

level analyst. Maintains an understanding of supported applications. Assists

in importing/exporting of data. Assists in using application specific tools

to create reports.

2.

Problem

Identification and Resolution: Assists in resolution of daily problems.

Assists and participates in testing as assigned. Assists in correcting system

errors as assigned.

3.

System

Management: Completes assignments driven by vendor application packages for

upgrades and enhancements. Utilizes various industry resources (journals,

internet, conferences, user groups, etc.) to stay current on vendor offerings

and features/functions that might meet the needs of the customer/organizations.

4.

Project

Coordination: Reviews, identifies and documents any issues, barriers, or

risks and brings them to managements attention. Provides Project/Task

Coordination Services to customers as assigned. Participates in joint

application and/or technical development sessions. Apprises

status, schedule variances, and outstanding issues with team members and

project managers. Manages workload and balances quality of work with

deadlines. Completes proper documentation of work tasks per policy. Assists

in controlling project costs and communicates any project-related expenses

(as assigned). Suggests ways to better accomplish assigned tasks.

Successfully meets deadlines, users expectations and

project goals. Participates in departmental and project teams as requested in

a support role and reports all relevant information and/or notes back to the

rest of the team. Manages expectations and engages management to

review/resolve any potential changes to project scope, expected deliverables,

etc. Participates in post implementation review of projects. Implement

changes while adhering to the change control policy and procedures for the

project in order to deliver a successful solution to the customer.

Communicates to all parties the natures, significance and risk factors of

corresponding projects.

5.

Team

Building: Participates in training and professional development sessions.

Participates in departmental teams. Travels independently to remote sites and

communicates back to the team while working offsite (if assigned). Exhibits

objectivity and openness to the view of others, including patients/families

and customers. Offers assistance and support to co-workers. Contributes to

Training

& Education: Provides class-room training, one-on-one training, and

position may require travel to other West Virginia United Health System

(WVUHS) facilities or affiliated sites to assist with implementations,

training, and/or support

8.

Adheres to

the established policies of the WVUHS as well as the policies of the entity

or entities where the IT team member is assigned to work and/or employed.

9.

Accepts

on-call responsibilities and responds with action, either by phone call or

on-site as defined by Department Policy.

10.

Other
