Administrative Assistant to the Associate Deans – Old Dominion University – Norfolk, VA

To serve as initial point of contact for the Darden College of Education and Professional Studies and to provide comprehensive administrative support to the Associate Deans and general office support to the Dean’s Office. This includes serving as the primary backup to the Dean’s Executive Assistant.

Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a highly professional manner with a diverse group of faculty, staff, academic administrators, and visitors. Demonstrated ability to resolve and interpret complex issues and/or policies and prioritize tasks independently.

Level and type of experience

Considerable experience providing administrative support in an executive-level office. Working experience utilizing information systems (e.g., Microsoft Office) to prepare correspondence, produce reports and manipulate data. Working experience using Banner or similar systems for scheduling, finance, and general student data.

Preferred knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification

Considerable experience utilizing Microsoft Office. Some knowledge of university and academic policies and procedures. Working knowledge of University and State practices and policies relating to travel, hiring practices, and general office procedures. Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.

Conditions of Employment

Annual Salary/Hourly Rate Salary is commensurate with education and experience and begins at $ – 28,354
