Responsibilities:


  • Oversee operation of heating & air conditioning systems consisting of boilers & heat exchangers systems, and placing in service appropriate units to meet demand.
  • Oversee operation of steam boilers to meet demand and maintain records of operation.
  • Oversee operation of chillers to meet demand and maintain records of operation.
  • Oversee water supply systems, compressed air systems, and medical gas systems.
  • Oversee emergency generators, conduct regular load tests and maintain records or operation.
  • Oversee air handlers, provide scheduled operation and ensure comfort and ventilation.
  • Maintain records of equipment usage, utility consumption, and water quality and water treatment.
  • Maintain records of medical gas pressures and consumption.
  • Act as department representative during hours when the main Facilities Management Office is not staffed.
  • Provide first response for Facilities Management during hours when the other crafts are not present. This includes doing minor maintenance items such as replacing light bulbs, intercom/nurse call system maintenance, pneumatic tube system repairs, and plumbing repairs (minor leaks/clogged drains/drips, etc.)
  • Maintain water treatment equipment (softeners, dealkylizers), conduct water tests, maintain records of water quality, and make necessary adjustments.
  • Provide local housekeeping, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping of mechanical rooms and the operations office and locker room.


Requirements:

  • In good health with adequate strength and endurance to perform assigned tasks and responsibilities. See Attached Physical Abilities Chart.
  • High School Diploma; completion of an apprenticeship program or four years’ experience with boilers, chillers, related equipment (air compressors, pumps, cooling towers and water treatment), and HVAC equipment (air handlers, humidifiers).
