Lead Medical Assistant – Gastroenterology Associates – Casper, WY

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant is responsible for performing basic clinical duties, routine patient care, and standard clerical duties to support medical providers in the care and treatment of patients. The Medical Assistant will build and sustain positive, productive relationships that support the clinic and the patient. They will escort patients to pre-operative areas, take and record vital signs and ask patient questions regarding symptoms, concerns, and medical history and support the overall function of the office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Greet and room patients, assist RN with patient vital signs, drawing blood, repositioning and pre and post-operative instructions

· Record patient medical history, vital statistics, and additional pertinent information, such as test results, in medical record

· Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition as necessary

· Administer appropriate treatment under the direction of physician or RN and assist in patient care

· Report emergency situations to Lead RN immediately.

· Assist in patient discharge

· Maintain equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting

· Support the RN and NP with return patient calls and follow up on pathology results.

· Perform administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and/or patient registration

· Supports front desk – check in and check out – for patients and providing education regarding patient procedures and assist in patient scheduling.

· Other duties as assigned

· Ability to communicate well with patients and their families and to build positive working relationships

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Strong computer skills

Education and Experience:

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Current certification as a Medical Assistant required

· BLS certification required

· Experience with GI or Pain Management preferred

· Proficiency in MS Excel

· Knowledge of GCP, federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA policies and procedures.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to move around an office/healthcare environment 90% of the time
  • Consistently uses computers and relays information via email, messaging and phone.
  • Must communicate with others and exchange information frequently and on an on-going basis.
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50 lbs.
  • Consistently grasps, moves or assembles objects
