Responsibilities
This position provides a lead role and coordination of activities and student training of the Inpatient Pharmacy Services. The Technician staff fill first doses and batch doses for both IV and UD medications, refills automated dispensing machines, delivers medications to nursing areas, problem solves medication distribution issues with nursing staff, and performs maintenance and inventory functions.
Required Qualifications
- Current California Pharmacy Technician License.
- Inpatient Hospital Pharmacy Experience
- Must be able to accurately perform Pharmacy calculations.
- Basic knowledge of automatic dispensing machine systems.
- Working knowledge of sterile and non-sterile compounding procedures.
- Must know Pharmacy Terminology.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods, with occasional lifting stooping and bending.
Preferred Qualifications
- National Board Certification
- Experience with Pharmacy EMA system- Epic, Simplfi 797
Special Requirements
Must be able to work rotating shifts to include day shifts, evening shifts, night shifts, weekend shifts, and holiday shifts. Must be able to work occasional overtime, usually during system down times, staff shortages, high patient census, or times of disaster. Per Diem employees must provide minimum availability as outlined in the Per Diem Appointment/ Work Requirements agreement. Must be flexible to comfortably rotate between job tasks. Personal protective equipment must be used for required preparation or spill cleanup of hazardous drugs. Must abide by Departmental and UCDMC attendance standards. TB testing is required annually. Must have good personal hygiene and abide by the Departmental and UCDMC dress code and appearance policies.
This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
