Referral specialists review, process, and complete referrals from Heart of Florida providers for patients who need specialty care and services. Specialists track and document referrals and linkage, assemble required information to complete referrals, and function as a systems navigator and point of contact for patients and families. Specialists maintain up to date knowledge of insurance company requirements. Important skills include accuracy, attention to detail, ability to multitask, respect for patient confidentiality, and ability to work as part of a team. Minimum requirements: High school diploma, Associates degree preferred; certified in Florida as a medical assistant or CNA; one year of experience medical office, clinic, hospital, or health insurance experience preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
