Nurse RN – Tyson Foods, Inc. – Sanford, NC

Job Description Summary

This position is responsible for providing primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses, dispensing over the counter and prescription medications as ordered, and performing required medical history and physical assessments for specified programs. Other duties include conducting required screening tests such as drug and alcohol testing, maintaining OSHA, state, and Team Member health records and participating in plant safety and ergonomic programs. Other responsibilities include assisting with Team Member health promotion education and training programs and identifying Workers Compensation cases, assisting with maintenance and documentation of Workers Compensation files, and performing other duties as needed.

This position will be responsible for working with Team Members that are at work or that are at home in relationship to communicable disease. This includes performing enhanced symptom screenings, COVID testing established by Tyson’s testing strategy, routine telephonic health checks with Team Members, determining Team Member isolation and return to work dates, arranging advanced healthcare if needed, and associated case documentation.

The nurse will adhere to the highest standard of confidentiality. This position may involve additional occupational health nurse duties as assigned by manager.

The standard hours for this position will be Monday 0600am – 1400, Tues – Fri 0300am – 1100am. These hours are typical but may need to be changed temporarily or permanently due to the need of the plant or department and therefore other hours may need to be worked. The current days for this position will be Monday – Friday w/occasional day shift on Saturday, approximately every 6 weeks.

Other Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills and strong problem solving and organizational skills.

Travel: Occasional travel to local clinic hospital.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Minimum academic preparation includes completion of Registered Nurse at accredited school of nursing program and current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in state of employment. Experience: 1 plus years’ experience in the performance of nursing skills, relative to Occupational Health Nursing preferred, current CPR/First Aid instructor certification preferred. Computer Skills: Standard computer skills; may require knowledge of the Tyson Business Computer System. Use of Word and Excel a plus. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with all level of Team Members.
