Nursing Assistant – Med/Surg – Full Time – Days – Prime Healthcare – Harlingen, TX

Overview:
The CNA in the Med/Surg Department is a certified assistive person who assists with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to non-critical patients and assists in maintenance of a safe environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit.

Responsibilities:
Demonstrates competence in assisting in the care of patients with complex conditions, multiple tubes and/or equipment.

Demonstrates knowledge of the provision of the highest quality of care and service excellence.

Demonstrates working knowledge of regulatory requirements related to clinical pathways, quality indicators, clinical outcomes, and enhancing the patient experience.

Maintains a safe environment for patient care related to equipment, bed rails and mental status.

Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of treatment and procedures in patient care; Considers the special needs and behaviors of specific patient age groups

Demonstrates ability to follow oral and written instructions and complete standard forms.

Recognizes, evaluates and responds appropriately to operational emergencies or unusual situations.

Demonstrates working knowledge of Med/Surg department standards and Hospital Policies and Procedures.

Possesses and displays interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information and maintain courteous relationships with patients, physicians, visitors, volunteers and Hospital employees.

Demonstrates knowledge of the National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG).

Qualifications:
1. Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire, required.

2. Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.

3. Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.

4. Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.
