Position Summary: *This non-exempt position represents an entry level mortgage loan underwriter trainee who reviews and recommends action regarding credit, property, and legal documentation.

OVERVIEW*
This position specializes in residential mortgage lending. The position reports to the Mortgage Underwriting Officer and involves entry level loan underwriting, review of mortgage loans, issuing commitments, as well as special projects as assigned. This position is considered the entry level underwriter trainee within the Mortgage Department.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: Non-exempt, non-supervisory position.

Examples of Duties*
Reviews loan submission requests, including credit and appraisal analysis of collateral offered. Determines acceptance or denial of the loan requests based on AHFC criteria.

Reviews the documentation of loans submitted for purchase and recommends acceptance or denial of the loans based on AHFC criteria.

Conduct post purchase quality control reviews.

Attends meetings of various organizations to inform lenders and/or the public of types of loans available, eligibility requirements, procedures used in applying and types of security required.

Handles heavy telephone communication with lenders and public to answer general and specific program and underwriting questions.

Revises and maintains the AHFC guides, assists in the development of new or revised program guidelines, forms and Seller/Servicer memorandums.

Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities*

Knowledge of: *Mortgage terminology, mortgage lending documents including credit reports, appraisals and title policies; AHFC loan programs; and web-based software applications.

Skills and Abilities: Proficiency with PC operation, use of Microsoft Word and Excel with experience working with desktop and web publishing programs such as Adobe Acrobat. Ability to handle routine duties with little supervision and work independently. Applicant must also possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent and four or more years of general business experience with at least two of the years in the mortgage industry.
This is a level 16 position with an annual salary of $51,361.44 (26 pay periods). Excellent benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and leave package.
