Certified Caregiver – Starfish Care Homes – Tucson, AZ

Prerequisites:

A Certified Caregiver must meet all of the criteria in the employment section of the Policies & Procedures Manual. In addition, the Certified Caregiver may be asked to act as Manager when the Manager is not on the premises. As Acting Manager, the Certified Caregiver may be responsible for such management duties as the Manager shall specify.


Primary Responsibility:

To provide care for residents, food service and home maintenance. To take on certain management responsibilities when the Manager is not on the premises or not on duty.


Duties:

  • Provide all personal and custodial care of residents as set forth in their care
  • Assist residents with the activities of daily living, including hygiene, mobility, hydration, meals and between meal nourishments, and toileting.
  • Assist residents with colostomy, catheter and incontinence care.
  • Observe residents throughout the work period and immediately report any behavior which is not normal for a resident or any marked change in a resident’s condition to the person in charge, or if a manager or other supervisor cannot be reached, to the resident’s family, physician or responsible licensed health care
  • Check resident vital signs on a regular basis, or as called for in the care plan, and record the
  • Document resident records
  • Prepare meals according to planned menus, serve and clean up
  • Do housekeeping and maintenance tasks
  • Orient new residents to emergency procedures, home rules and resident rights.
  • Evacuate residents in a safe and timely manner during fire drills and actual emergencies.
  • Notify the manager of any needs of the residents or any need for household supplies or food.

This position may require standing for up to twelve hours, squatting, bending, lifting and assisting residents with ambulation and transfer.
