Actuarial Analyst III/ Associate Actuary (Medicaid Valuation)

This position can be filled at either the Actuarial Analyst III or Associate Actuary depending on experience.

Preferred Location: Atlanta, GA, or Indianapolis, IN

Alternate Locations: St. Louis, MO; Mason, OH; Waukesha, WI; Louisville, KY; Richmond, VA; Virginia Beach, VA

Actuarial Analyst III

Completes very diverse and complicated projects and performs very complex actuarial studies.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists in training of actuarial trainees and analysts
  • Coordinates/directs special actuarial projects.
  • Support the month-end close process and ensure the accuracy of booked reserves.
  • Prepare and coordinate month-end financial reporting.
  • Review seasonality statistics for the state to be used in the forecast.
  • Provide support and analysis for internal and external audit requests, including the annual audit.
  • Produce quarterly reporting, including statutory and GAAP information.
  • Assist with Actuarial opinion and memoranda work annually.

Associate Actuary

Completes the most diverse and complicated projects and performs highly complex actuarial studies.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for valuation support for business unit by interpreting financial results, variances from forecast to help identify product and segment behavior to assist in the risk management of the business unit.
  • Support the month-end close process and ensure the accuracy of booked reserves.
  • Prepare and coordinate month-end financial reporting.
  • Communicate valuation results to local Health Plans.
  • Review seasonality statistics for the state to be used in the forecast.
  • Provide support and analysis for internal and external audit requests, including the annual audit.
  • Produce quarterly reporting, including statutory and GAAP information.
  • Assist with Actuarial opinion and memoranda work annually.

Qualifications

Actuarial Analyst III

  • Requires a BS/BA degree; required to have passed at least four Society of Actuaries (SOA) actuarial exams; at least 3 years related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Proficient in MS Excel required; proficient in full MS Office Suite preferred.
  • Database experience preferred.
  • Healthcare experience highly desired.
  • Medicaid experience beneficial.

Associate Actuary

  • Requires a BS/BA degree; ASA required from the Society of Actuaries (SOA); at least 4 years related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Proficient in MS Excel required; proficient in full MS Office Suite preferred.
  • Database experience preferred.
  • Healthcare experience highly desired.
  • Medicaid experience beneficial.
