Speech Pathologist – PRN Days – Houston Methodist – Houston, TX

Assess and plan treatment programs for patients relevant to physical dysfunction and implement by direct or delegated care as ordered by referring physician. Serve as a professional care provider, educator, consultant and coordinator.

Requirements:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate patient’s level of function; develop and implement plan of treatment. (EF)
  • Monitor patient progress; maintains timely and accurate patient records.(EF)
  • Completes all patient documentation and enters charges for services provided. (EF)
  • Coordinates / collaborates with members of the medical treatment staff regarding client’s current or recommended treatment, progress and discharge planning. (EF)
  • Ensures proper scheduling of patients to maximize utilization of time.(EF)
  • Participates in individual and staff development and expansion of services. (EF)
  • Assists in development and marketing of speech language pathology services to appropriate population.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Have 5 years of general experience including acute inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation settings.

CERTIFICATE / LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

Current Texas license as a Speech-language Pathologist.

Certified by the American Speech-language Pathology and Audiology Association.

Current American Heart Association BLS required.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrates good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member and to be able to work independently.
  • Ability to assess and teat adults and/or pediatric patients with communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Demonstrates good computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Work and Excel programs.
