Under direction and in accordance with established standards, procedures and policies, serves as a charge nurse (Lead Worker) to lower level nursing staff; participates as a member of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team; directs personnel in the delivery of individual care and treatment consistent with individual treatment plans.
40% 1. Serves as a charge nurse.
30% 2. Utilizing the nursing process, plans, provides, or directs the development and delivery of nursing care for individuals receiving health care services.
10% 3. Directs subordinate staff in the use of prescribed techniques to ensure a safe, sanisanitary, therapeutic environment of care and general performance of prescribed duties through direct observation of, and interaction with, subordinate staff and individuals served.
5% 4. Meets with subordinate staff to maintain effective lines of communication regarding programs/activities and staff responsibilities/accountability.
5% 5. Completes mandatory training requirements and participates in continuing education workshops and seminars to maintain age and disability specific professional competency through observation and evaluation.
5% 6. Serves as designated lead worker to lower level staff.
5% 7. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
- Requires (a) graduation from an approved nursing education program resulting in an associate or diploma degree in nursing and two rears of progressively responsible professional nursing experience;
OR (b) a bachelor’s degree in nursing and one year of professional nursing experience;
OR (c) a master’s degree in nursing.
2. Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
- Requires extensive knowledge of professional nursing principles and procedures and theory.
- Requires extensive knowledge of normal and abnormal reactions lo drugs and medications.
- Requires extensive knowledge of set up, application and use and care of specialized medical equipment.
- Requires extensive knowledge of the methods and techniques utilized in developing educational programs.
- Requires extensive knowledge of pharmacology of commonly prescribed medicines and drugs and their therapeutic and possible adverse reactions.
- Requires ability to develop and maintain harmonious working relationships with individual care staff.
- Requires ability to apply emergency medical techniques such as CPR, control of bleeding and airway maintenance.
- Requires ability to acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
Work Hours: 10:45 PM – 7:00 AM
3rd shift; Monday and every other weekend off
