Director of Nursing, Emergency Department – RWJBarnabas Health – New Brunswick, NJ

The Director of the ED is to strategically develop and implement the clinical activities of the Emergency Department at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick.

Responsibilities:

  • The Director will provide direction and oversight for both clinical and operational management of the Emergency Department.
  • Provides administrative direction and coordination in the formulation, interpretation and administration of current and long range policies, procedures and programs.
  • Oversees the daily operation of department, including creating and implementing production schedules, and/or tracking and reporting systems, managing work assignments and identifying and resolving issues.
  • Defines and documents procedures, identifies process and workflow changes for continuous improvement and implements best practices for greater efficiency. Provides process improvement assistance when needed, and evaluates and develops logical work flows where applicable.


Education:

  • Valid NJ Registered Nursing License required
  • BSN required
  • An advanced degree in nursing (i.e., M.S.N. or Ph.D.) or in management (i.e., M.B.A. or M.H.A.) preferred.
  • TNCC required
  • CERN Certified Emergency Nurse preferred


Experience:

  • 5 years of clinical experience in the Emergency Services setting required
  • Must have prior leadership experience in an Emergency Department service line
  • 2-5 years related previous management experience required
