Property Book Specialist (DoD) – General Dynamics Information Technology – Fort Detrick, MD

General Dynamics Information Technology – Federal Civilian Division is looking for Property Book Specialist to join our team to support the United States Army. This position is based in Ft. Detrick, Maryland.


The Property Book Specialist will support the following tasks:

  • Assist the Property Book Officer in all aspects of property book management using Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS) automated system and various other automated accountability systems such as The Defense Medical Logics – Enterprise Solution (DML-ES), LogiCole and Global Combat Support System – Army (GCSS-A).
  • Provide assistance, instruction, and guidance to all primary hand receipt holders on Army Regulation 700 series, organization regulations and policies, and SOPs.
  • Assist with hand receipts and property management in the areas of receipt, storage, issues, transfers, and accounts for all property, equipment, and expendable supplies.
  • Maintain and update all hand receipts and sub-hand receipts in compliance with applicable Army regulations, including those for nonexpendable equipment receipted to the organization, and ensure all files are kept current and include all properly executed documentation.
  • Assist in preparing for and conducting periodic and special inventories.
  • Assist primary and sub-hand receipt holders in investigations to determine cause of inventory discrepancies and, if required, assist in developing documentation packages for Financial Liability Investigation Loss of Property.
  • Verify that all DD 1348-1s have the correct Ship to DoDAAC and verify signature cards are current.
  • Assist in completing required documentation in support of lateral transfers of property to other organizations.
  • Assist in maintaining a secure storage area within the organzation for consumable/expendable, durable, and nonexpendable property items.
  • Assist in the assembly, distribution, and transport of equipment, material, and supplies using manual handling equipment.
  • Assist in the turn-in process for both serviceable and unserviceable assets.
  • Follow all applicable safety rules and regulations as required.
  • Participate in special projects as required.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, or work experience.
  • 2+ years of related experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and use appropriate personal protective equipment as required.
  • Experience with DMLSS or another equivalent system.
  • Excellent data entry skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Ability to obtain T1 (Public Trust)
