General Responsibility: To oversee Purchasing Coordinators at each facility, ensuring product, budgets and customer service is met timely and within scope required.

Essential Functions:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Facilitates the acquisition of company supplies and equipment and ensures that vital inventory is kept in stock

· Negotiate, implement, and maintain supply agreements with key supply base

· Facilitate the consolidation of materials and suppliers for common or similar materials across all facilities

· Track and report out on raw materials price indexes

· Create and maintain meaningful liaison with vendors

· Assist Production Management and Leads to determine the amount and type of materials needed and ensure they are delivered timely

· Assist with electronic and physical inventory as needed

· Contact vendors for quotes and proposals

· Arrange meetings with vendors and confer with them in order to provide them with requirements

· Maintain purchase order systems in place

· Monitor all purchasing concerns and report discrepancies to vendors

· Ensure purchasing records are legible and organized

· Assist management with evaluating formal bids and make recommendations for awarding contracts

· Research pricing information and compare prices and quotations

· Assist with various plant functions such as audits, equipment receiving and shipment tracking coming and going

· Utilize a variety of computer programs to create and maintain purchasing log

  • Utilize and keep up to date on ERP system and processes
  • Ensure ERP data is properly updated and maintained
  • Collect and analyze purchasing/costs data to reduce overall costs and maximize profit
  • Recommend improvements to the company’s purchasing processes and policies to ensure efficiencies and effectiveness within the purchasing department
