Product Manager – University of California San Francisco – San Francisco, CA

Responsible for identifying and investigating new product opportunities within a defined range of responsibility. Develops project plans and manages the design, development, testing, and documentation of select products, services or enhancements. Formulates and executes business plans for product development and launch. Develops and participates in public outreach activities and informational campaigns to promote awareness of products or services. Maintains knowledge of new trends and products in the appropriate markets.

The CDHI Senior Product Manager, reporting to the Director of Product Management at the UCSF Center for Digital Health Innovation, combines advanced knowledge and experience leading teams in design thinking, lean product management, product strategy, user-centered design, agile and waterfall product development, product adoption, organization agility development, and project management to achieve the vision of digital transformation, connected care, and a modern patient experience.

The CDHI Senior Product Manager works with a diverse set of Patients, Patient Care Givers, Referring Providers, UCSF leaders, faculty, and staff to lead problem identification, definition, prioritization, and scoping of solutions that drive digital transformation at UCSF Health and the healthcare ecosystem. The Senior Product Manager will focus on re-imagining the care delivery experience and enabling product strategy, vision, roadmap and management of digital products and capabilities in one or more of the following areas: Patient Growth and Acquisition, Access Transformation, Virtual Care, and a unified patient engagement and communications.

The Senior Product Manager will shape the product roadmap by identifying the most pressing problems impacting UCSF patients and practices, prioritizing the user and practice opportunities, and developing scalable solutions to these advanced and complex business, customer experience and technical issues. The Senior Product Manager will partner with Practice Leadership, Faculty and Staff, Clinical Informatics Leader(s), Product Designer, Solution Architect, Project Manager, Scrum Master and other Clinical Systems and IT leaders to develop a thorough understanding of all customers’, UCSF’s and practices’ needs, new technologies, and trends in the market, as well as a substantial understanding of existing vendor solutions at UCSF, and lead enhancements to existing products as well as inception of new digital products concepts and designs to meet their identified market and user requirements.

The Senior Product Manager leads a balanced product and capability team who together gain empathy for and champion user personas, problems, and needs, and hypothesize, test, and measure product concepts. The Senior Product Manager will develop and align the organization with the UCSF Health’s Vision 2025, DPE’s digital product strategy and roadmap and partner with multi department, program and disciplinary teams on concurrent product development ranging from minimum viable products (MVPs) to large product releases of diverse scope, size, impact, and budget. The Senior Product Manager will continuously evaluate when it’s time to pivot, persist, or double-down on pilots and development. The CDHI Senior Product Manager will have demonstrated experience of product managing B2C and B2B digital products and developing a unified customer digital experience.

In conjunction with leading balanced product and capability teams, The Senior Product Manager will use extensive client relationship experience and skills to partner with the Director of Product Management, Clinical Informatics Lead, DPE Program Manager, and other key organizational stakeholders to facilitate alignment with the targeted clinical practice and joint management of mutual success outcomes, metric goals, and working agreements. The Senior Product Manager will have deep experience with lean product management. Specifically, the Senior Product Manager leads outcome achievement, business case development, product vision, strategy and roadmap development, detailed product requirements and acceptance criteria development, adoption strategies (e.g., user adoption and training, SEO, product marketing), analytics and reporting definition, and web behavioral analytics.

Lastly, The Senior Product Manager will help build organizational agility by partnering with the CDHI Director of Product Management, DPE Program Manager, CDHI Director of Product Management and CDHI Director of Technology and lead the development of product management methods, processes, tools, and roles/responsibilities to enable the DPE to effectively build, measure, and learn.
