Our Business Development function brings together business, sector and account knowledge along with EY competencies and solutions to meet unique client needs. The Business Development organization shapes and drives an integrated growth strategy across EY’s largest accounts, industry sectors, solutions and services, while demonstrating and achieving market leadership through a client centric culture.

The Opportunity

As a Competitive Intelligence Lead within the Strategic Pricing & Insights group, you’ll play a pivotal role in maximizing profitability by bringing forth relevant insights about our competition and areas of EY differentiation supporting a clear, compelling articulation of EY’s value proposition. You’ll hold primary responsibility for pulling together qualitative and quantitative market intelligence into actionable analysis, insights and strategies. You’ll identify client value preferences and uncover associated willingness to pay highlighting opportunities for commercial model innovation and monetization. You’ll identify solution and go-to-market opportunities including strategies to mitigate risk and enhance differentiation across the full suite of EY’s solutions. You’ll work closely with the Commercial Architect and Pursuit Leader to develop custom pursuit intelligence to positively impact our largest, most strategic client proposals.

Your key responsibilities

As a Competitive Intelligence Lead, you’ll be responsible for all aspects of competitive and market intelligence with a focus on:

  • Process – design and develop gold standard competitive intelligence pursuit support framework driving collaboration across stakeholders. Execute strategic and tactical pursuit support, competitive analysis projects and competitive monitoring activities
  • Solution – develop and maintain competitor battlecards across defined sectors and fields of play
  • Markets – examine how client preferences are evolving; what features should be positioned as core, differentiable or add-ons; how does willingness to pay breakdown across different segments, markets, sectors, locations and solutions
  • Commercials – uncover the preferred and emerging contracted vehicles and commercial terms across target sectors, solutions and accounts
  • Team development – opportunity to select, grow and develop team commensurate with the positive impact on the business

Skills and attributes for success

Thriving in a matrixed organization is essential, balancing the needs of the client against business initiatives and goals. Possessing natural coaching and influencing skills, you’ll inspire others with your insights to drive differentiated value propositions in the market. You’ll be a trusted advisor to those you engage with including the Commercial Architect, the Pursuit Leader, the Solution Architect and the broader proposal team, all the while acting in a consultative manner. You’ll be the catalyst that pulls stakeholders together to drive strategic initiatives and increase win odds while positioning increased revenues and margin expansion.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • 8+ years of experience in competitive intelligence, professional services experience preferred
  • Outstanding proficiency in market research, competitive analysis, industry insight, sales enablement, relationship management
  • Proven track record designing, building and maintaining competitive intelligence repository and associated reporting
  • Strong proficiency in project management, executive presence and influencing skills
  • Effective oral (virtual/in-person) and written communications
  • High proficiency at collaborating, managing conflicting interests and dealing with ambiguity
  • A University/Bachelor’s Degree

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • An advanced degree or MBA
  • Flexibility to travel on occasion
