Job Title: Community Engagement VISTA – The Bridge at Green Street

The VIP program offers a unique approach to AmeriCorps VISTA service, as you will spend 10% of your time each week working collaboratively with 19 other AmeriCorps VISTA members placed in the community to research and implement community-wide solutions focusing on either increasing access to behavioral healthcare or increasing financial stability. Member Duties : This position is part of the AmeriCorps VISTAs in the Piedmont (VIP) program sponsored by United Way of the Piedmont. As the Community Engagement VISTA at The Bridge at Green Street, you will complete and implement a site plan and architectural design plans for individual tiny houses specifically for the Northside and for a target population of homeless single women, using volunteers and construction professionals. You will work with the leadership at the Bridge at Green Street to develop an approach to recovery from homelessness to implement with the residents of the tiny house village. You will work to develop wide-spread community, volunteer, and financial support for the tiny house village and the recovery program. You will also develop a sustainable vegetable garden, using community volunteers and BridgeWay residents, as a resource to teach gardening, responsibility, and good nutrition to women transitioning out of homelessness.
