Job Description:
This Chattanooga based sales position is responsible for developing long term, mutually beneficial relationships with the thousands of trucking companies that keep Network Transport customers’ freight going where it needs to go on time and intact.
It is heavy phone work, but you will be making consequential decisions. We aren’t selling magazine subscriptions; every day will present different challenges. Our reps make millions of dollars’ worth of independent decisions each year.
You need to bring a “be of service” attitude each day. Trucking companies depend on us to keep them moving and get them paid fairly and promptly. Weather, data errors, and countless other complex issues involved in moving freight will create challenges.
Essential Duties:
As part of our brokerage sales team, you will work closely with our extensive network of carriers, as well as develop new relationships focusing on improving efficiency and managing transportation costs. You will be responsible for taking a proactive approach in mastering the pricing and capacity fluctuations in the truckload shipping market.
- Source and procure carrier services to ensure timely pick-up and delivery of customer freight
- Establish deep and mutually rewarding relationships with carriers to expand capacity opportunities
- Negotiate rates with carriers on a spot or transactional basis
- Work effectively with your sales and operations colleagues at Network Transport in order to provide a seamless efficient experience to our customers.
Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of experience in carrier sales / brokerage
- Driven and competitive nature with impressive negotiation skills
- Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities
- Quick learner who is successful at multi-tasking
- Willing to constantly look for ways to improve performance
