System Manager, Performance Improvement – Dignity Health System Office – Glendale, CA

Position Summary:

The System Manager, Performance Improvement is a Registered Nurse (RN) who addresses clinical performance in value-based programs across the system, applying performance improvement methodology to improve patient care and clinical outcomes and increase value-based program performance scores. This role participates in new value-based program development by identifying best practices for clinical performance, including variations for specific markets, as well as working with electronic medical record (EMR) leadership for related enhancements to electronic systems.

  • Assesses clinical performance in value based programs and identifies opportunities for improvement
  • Applies performance improvement science and tools to guide clinical workflows and outcomes for all value based programs
  • Identifies clinical best practices for value based programs and which may be applicable for specific markets
  • Develops playbooks with best practices for clinical performance improvement
  • Partners with EMR leadership to assess and apply enhancements that address value based program clinical requirements and create efficiencies for physicians
  • Includes vulnerable populations into all appropriate performance improvement activities

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors in nursing required; Masters preferred

  • Training in evaluation science or performance improvement

  • Minimum 5+ years’ leadership experience applying improvement science to clinical initiatives and/or value based programs; improvement experience in both inpatient and ambulatory settings a plus

  • Minimum 3+ years’ leadership experience collaborating with information technology to enhance EMR functionality for improvement work and efficiency

Required Licesnsure and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse – current licensure

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training

  • Nursing experience in an integrated health system; experience in both ambulatory and inpatient settings desirable
  • Performance improvement expertise, applied in clinical settings
  • Performance improvement experience with value based programs
  • Experience using an EHR for assessing clinical effectiveness of care provided
  • Experience monitoring clinical outcomes, process improvement milestones, and informing performance reports
  • Experience working with Information Technology and/or Informatics to enhance functionality for performance improvement and better clinical outcomes
  • Ability to work with all levels of an organization, from C-suite to front line workers
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience developing playbooks, tip sheets, and similar for performance improvement
  • In depth knowledge of Microsoft and Google products, including MS Excel, Google Sheets, MS PowerPoint, Google Slides, MS Word, Google docs
  • Preferred experience with: Epic, Cerner
  • Ability to lead and manage complex strategic projects
  • Work in largely self-directed manner
  • Ability to work remotely
