Position Description:

As part of this new TIO&E/AMS team, the candidate will have the opportunity to work on a Global IT Team to identify, coordinate, and resolve challenges at the intersection of healthcare, information, and technology. The role offers technology professionals incredible opportunities to collaborate with targeted teams (Business & IT) across the globe to drive the integration of IT solutions in support of business strategies ensuring realization of the desired end state in support of the Research Laboratory -IT portfolio.

The Application Lead candidate will be aligned to the portfolio of projects and assigned to initiatives primarily in support of the client area of Discovery, Preclinical and Early Development (DPED). In addition to the support and maintenance of global applications from the Research Laboratories or Pre-Clinical/Clinical domains, the candidate will represent the organization within the product model furthering our transformation journey and building on the learnings from our product line leadership pilots and the DPED lighthouses as well.


Core Product Support Lead Responsibilities include:

  • Partner with business, scientific, and technical stakeholders to characterize the ongoing scientific support needs by functional area and business process, identifying strengths and gaps in current support services including lab computing, high performance computing, application and workflow support, shop floor and lab automation, data capture and reporting services.

  • Manage service offerings for IT systems and applications within the scope, to ensure sustainment of key business operations.

  • Contribute to the development of and to insure the maintenance of dynamic roadmap(s) of the evolution of targeted products in alignment with the research strategy.

  • Collaborate with key vendors and track vendor performance to ensure service levels are delivered as expected.

    Operational Support Monitoring and Incident Management for day-to-day operations

  • Manage targeted IT projects requiring cross-department resources (internal/external) & coordination while working independently and creatively.

  • IT Product Model (AMS Representative) stakeholder on ALL Value teams, Product Teams, and Product lines with immediate focus on the following:

  • Business case influence and development

    Innovation and enterprise architecture and landscape activities

    Project Lifecycle including Application End of Life Coordination and Recommendations

  • Act as point of escalation and coordination for infrastructure and support service failures and incidents

  • Establish a culture of measurement and continuous improvement both internally and with outsourced partners to drive efficiency and improved user experience.

  • Coordinate demand management function including oversight of minor enhancements as well as medium sized development projects.

  • Responsible for service reporting and continuous service improvement efforts.

  • Define and establish a customer focused engagement model and appropriate service governance and metrics.


Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor´s Degree with relevant experience concentrated in Computer Science, Information Science, Engineering, Scientific Discipline or equivalent.


Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience managing IT Projects and/or support Services.

  • Demonstrated success in building strong relationships and sharing best practices with diverse client organizations/stakeholders and across cross-divisional IT functions.

  • Demonstrated skills in developing compelling business cases and solution recommendations; specifically ensuring high quality materials to facilitate both key client and IT conversations and presentations.

  • Proven experience of working within an IT service framework (ITIL) throughout the service and project lifecycle ensuring compliance

  • Experience establishing and maintaining excellence in service management, with ability to translate defects into continuous improvement.

  • Highly responsive and client-oriented, with a focus on user experience, follow-up and accountability for outcomes to key issues and root causes.

  • Demonstrated execution, ability to drive change, and manage complex program execution.

  • Ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization, achieving results with a largely virtual and globally distributed team.

  • Proven ability as a self-starter and problem solver; comfort with ambiguity and able to effectively take the conceptual to the pragmatic, addressing business and technical obstacles as they emerge.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to quickly synthesize data and develop recommendations for senior leaders.

  • Ability to build and manage global diverse teams and vendors.

  • Ability to work with individuals at all levels and demonstrate a level of professionalism that instills confidence and inspires trust.

  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment and thorough understanding of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for computerized systems.

  • Ability to succeed in a dynamic, rapidly changing, highly matrixed business environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills at all organizational levels.

  • Ability to identify and leverage the right people, processes, and tools to achieve planned results on time and on budget.

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.

  • Experience in driving process and service improvements.


Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience managing IT Projects and/or support Services.

  • Experience working in the Pharmaceutical industry or a Health & Life Sciences Practice.

  • ITIL Foundation and ITIL Service Operation Certification.

  • Experiences from the Research Laboratories or Clinical/Pre-clinical domains.

  • Experience managing resources and suppliers.

  • Project Management experience on small to medium sized projects.

  • Experience working with laboratory automation systems, LIMS systems, Open LAB Solution for Primary Electronic Lab Data Management and Archiving, and drug discovery (basic research) data systems.

  • Experience working in a GxP (GLP, and/or GMP) environment.

  • Experience with Lean-Six Sigma methodologies (Yellow and/or Green Belt).

  • Experience with Change Execution Management (CEM).

  • Experience with Client Relationship Management (CRM).

  • Experience with establishing strong Data and Process Governance.
