Housekeeper – EVS – Providence – Apple Valley, CA

We are looking for a Housekeeper for the Environmental Services Department at St. Mary Medical Center.

Location: Apple Valley, CA

Work Schedule: Full Time – 80 Biweekly Hours

Shift: 8-hour, Evenings

Job Summary:

Performs a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, offices, hallways and other assigned areas of the facility. Work also includes distributing clean linens to user departments and maintaining stock levels on nursing floors. Follows standard practices and procedures and comply with regulatory requirements. Transports and stores medical waste, trash and soiled linen according to regulatory requirements. Utilizes patient related computer systems to provide perfect care.

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrates values-based competencies in line with the four core values that are the foundation of all activities performed by caregivers in order to achieve the Mission of the St. Joseph Health System.
  • Cleans and services various areas of the facility to include patient rooms, procedure rooms, rest rooms, nurses’ stations, waiting areas, entrances, and trash compactor areas. Work is completed according to established schedules and quality standards utilizing appropriate cleaning procedures.
  • Maintains carpeted and hard surface floors, walls, windows, upholstery, and performs other project types work as assigned. Work is completed with quality results, according to established schedules and/or daily assignments utilizing appropriate procedures.
  • Maintains housekeeping cart and/or associated equipment in a clean, orderly, and safe manner to include pagers and radios.
  • Distributes clean linen to designated locations throughout the hospital. Documents amounts delivered to each location and enter into computer system to track.
  • Handles, transports, and processes biohazard waste, non-regulated waste, pathological waste, chemotherapeutic waste, radioactive waste, recyclable materials, and soiled linen according to established schedules and procedures.
  • Performs set-up and break down of meeting rooms according to meeting room schedule. Cleans meeting rooms before functions (i.e., vacuum, wipe tables and empty trash).
  • Utilizes and maintains all patient computer systems to provide perfect patient care (i.e., TeleTracking and Skylight).
  • Returns all equipment in proper working order daily to its proper location. Returns mops, rags, radios, pagers, carts and trash cans to their proper location daily.

Skills:

  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.

Minimum Position Requirements:

Education: H.S. Diploma or GED or equivalent educ/experience

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Experience: 6 months Housekeeping experience
