UT Regional One Physicians is currently seeking a Nurse Practitioner in Surgical Oncology Services (Colorectal Surgical Oncology)
JOB SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Participates as a member of the surgical oncology health care team to meet patient needs and provide continuity of care. Under the administrative and technical supervision of a surgeon performs medial services in the care and treatment of surgical oncology patients. Will assist in the outpatient clinic and responsibilities will include seeing patients independently with appropriate supervision. Will round on inpatients, participate in surgery and other procedures as directed. Will provide care and health education for patients and their families.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Functions as the primary health care provider to a group of patients
Assesses, treats and manages specific surgical oncology-related medical conditions
Evaluates and clarifies evolving clinical conditions
Consults and works collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare providers
Provides referrals for hospitalization, tests, therapies, or specialty consultations
Function as first or second assistant in surgical oncology procedures
Makes hospital rounds as indicated
Advises and counsels patients implementing plans for the prevention of disease and maintenance of health
Documents and updates patient charts, prepares and maintains required records, reports, statistics and files
Collaborates with physicians and staff to develop and implement a seamless progression of care to meet the patient’s needs
Coordinates and communicates with various staff and departments regarding updates, maintenance and evaluation of patient group
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Must be a certified Nurse Practitioner who is fully licensed and has passed boards. Additional training may be required for specialty areas. Qualified by education, training and experience to work with surgical oncology patient population. Required three plus years’ experience in a surgical or medical oncology practice. Required experience in gastrointestinal cancer patients, particularly colorectal cancers. Experience in clinical cancer genetics preferred. Experience with enterostomal care preferred.
