Job Description:
Interpath Laboratory is the largest independent lab in the Northwest, and has one of the highest levels of automation in the country. In addition to testing for COVID-19 this year, lab specimens grew by a whopping 30% in 2020. So we have some hiring to do! There are several open positions for skilled and detail-oriented Medical Technologists to work at our main lab in Pendleton. Qualified candidates will be experienced in performing a broad range of laboratory procedures and tests and have a willingness to support the needs of our patients, as well as the goals of the job and the team.

Ensure accurate and timely testing of collected specimens.

Perform the full range of laboratory tests provided by Interpath Laboratory— Blood Banking, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, Microbiology, Urinalysis and Coagulation.

Ensure accurate and timely testing of collected specimens using a microscope to evaluate cells and bacteria shape, size and color. (Must be able to identify colorimetric redactions. Must be able to identify color differences in crystals.)

Operate complex automated laboratory equipment, electronic equipment, computer software, and precision instruments. Provide trouble-shooting on such instruments as far as possible.

Evaluate test results and recognize abnormal values in specific population groups.

Report laboratory findings to pathologist and other healthcare providers.

Develop and modify procedures as needed.

Establish and monitor programs, to ensure the accuracy of tests.

Participate in all aspects of proficiency testing.

Understand and adhere to HIPAA policies, procedures and regulations to assure patient confidentiality.

Conserves laboratory resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.

Administrative duties including excellent customer service to all patients, clients and employees.

Answer phones in a timely manner following company standards on proper phone etiquette.

Perform other work related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Text Only): Education: Medical Technologist– Bachelors degree in a certified MT program. Medical Laboratory Technicians – Associates degree in a certified MLT program Licensure/Certification: ASCP or NCA preferred, other national certifications considered Experience: New graduates accepted Expectations for all Employees:

General Physical Requirements:
Must be able to distinguish color and pass vision acuity test in compliance with CAP regulations

Regularly exposed to infection by handling potentially infectious samples.

Typically Stands for extended period of times

Lift up to 25 pounds.

Mobility to climb stairs on a regular basis.

Wearing appropriate protective gear: Lab coat, gloves, goggles, and face shield.

This position performs tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids and/or tissues. All employees performing these duties are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis-B vaccination series.
