Lab Supervisor (Eastern Oregon, Nights) – Interpath Laboratory – Cheyenne, WY

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for all elements of the clinical laboratory operations from point of specimen collection, specimen processing, couriering of specimens and/or reports, testing and reporting for all entities owned or affiliated with Interpath Laboratory, Inc. within area.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Technical supervision
  • Respond to inside and outside questions of a technical nature which apply to testing within the division. This will require the maintenance of a broad knowledge range of technical subjects.
  • Where assigned, oversee the management and completion of Pre-Analytical and Technical laboratory projects.
  • Assist in the everyday maintenance of the laboratory, covering bench work where needed and troubleshooting test/instrument problems within the division.
  • Assist the Pre-Analytical Manager and General Lab Manager in other assigned tasks (e.g., interviewing job candidates).
  • Staff supervision
  • Determine optimal FTEs within the division, recommending changes to the Pre-Analytical Manager and General Lab Manager.
  • Perform 6-month and annual evaluations of personnel within the division
  • Manage the monthly schedule for the division.
  • Assist in the mentorship and development of personnel in the division.
  • Manage and approve timecards for personnel within the division.
  • Maintain compliance with all corporate policies, protocols and procedures.
  • Maintain Interpath’s corporate culture and commitment to quality.
  • Understands and adhere HIPAA policies, procedures and regulations to assure patient confidentiality.
  • Quality assurance and compliance
  • Oversee preparation for inspections and accreditation processes within the division.
  • Ensure annual review by all leads of applicable CAP checklists.
  • Develop and track quality indicators for each department within the division.
  • Where assigned, oversee all process improvement projects in the division.
  • Work with leads to ensure initial, 6-month and annual training and competency is completed and documented.
  • Determine the technical competencies of each employee within the division and provide guidance regarding career development (e.g., technical assistants becoming certified as MLT/MT).
  • Other duties may be assigned based upon evolving needs of the organization.
  • Demonstrated success in a leadership and/or supervisory position

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Medical Technologist – Bachelor’s degree in a certified MT program
  • Medical Laboratory Technicians – Associates degree in a certified MLT program
  • Licensure/Certification: ASCP or NCA preferred, other national certifications considered

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High aptitude and commitment for accuracy and being detail oriented
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Leading, motivating and coaching staff for high performance
  • Ability to delegate tasks and functions appropriately
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office products, use of multiple databases,
  • Strong meeting facilitator
  • General Office work; prolonged sitting, occasional stooping, reaching, climbing and bending
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity for typing, 10-key work, and telephone use.
  • Driving in all types of conditions, including heavily populated areas, freeway, and rural traffic, hours of darkness, and inclement weather.
